A practicing orthodontist since 1980, Dr. Craig Coombs prides himself on offering the same orthodontic and personal care to each and every patient that he would offer his own family. In addition to the years of experience he brings to his practice, he is among a small percentage of orthodontists worldwide who have passed the rigorous academic and clinical requirements to become board certified, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Coombs is an Invisalign® Gold Plus Provider.
Dr. Coombs grew up locally and graduated from Bonneville High School as class valedictorian. He completed his pre-dental education at Brigham Young University, and graduated magna cum laude. He attended dental school at University of the Pacific in San Francisco, where he finished at the top of his class. While there, Dr. Coombs was inducted into the TKO and OKU National Dental Honor fraternities. He received his specialist in orthodontics certificate from the University of Oregon Health Science Center after completion of a two-year residency program there.
Dr. Coombs is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Wasatch Orthodontics Study Club. He is a past president of the Utah Association of Orthodontists and served as president of the Rocky Mountain Association of Orthodontists from 2011 to 2012. Dr. Coombs is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality of orthodontic care and attends several continuing education courses each year.
Dr. Coombs and his wife Rita have five children and 18 grandchildren. He has a daughter who is a dental hygienist, a son who is an orthodontist in New Mexico, and a son who is a dentist in Oregon. In his spare time, he enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, and spending time with his family. Dr. Coombs is active in his community and gives charitable donations to local schools and community programs.
